Today, an Accra Circuit Court granted embattled social media personality Rosemond Alade Brown aka Akuapem Poloo bail; but does that mean she is entirely free? Let’s find out.

Akuapem Poloo after her lawyer, Andrew Vortia has worked hard to secure she stays out of the confines of the prison by having a court bail, it does not mean the case is entirely over.

Her lawyer has filed an appeal wherein a bail application was put forward pending the determination of the appeal case. This is under the Criminal Justice Act which allows a convicted person to be granted bail pending an appeal.

The outcome of the appeal will determine whether Akuapem Poloo may go back to prison to serve a longer-term, a shorter term, be fined or be cautioned and let free. Since the content of the appeal is not unknown, it is safe to say her lawyer is asking the court to remit the jail term. Remit here means, the 90-jail term be reduced or a different punishment be given to Akuapem Poloo.

Well, as the court has granted Akuapem Poloo a bail at GH¢80,000 she still needs to meet some terms and conditions which when broken may land her in hot waters.

What are the bail conditions Akuapem Poloo needs to adhere to:

1, As part of her bail condition, Akuapem Poloo needs to report to the case investigator every two weeks.

2, As part of her bail condition, Akuapem Poloo needs to deposit her passport with the registrar of the court.

3, As part of her bail condition, Akuapem Poloo will only travel with the express permission of the court.

Yes, the appeal case may travel beyond the 90-day jail term but after all is said and done, Akuapem Poloo may go back to serve her jail term if the court still finds it the right thing to do.

Her lawyers will need to be up to the task and ensure that they argue their case with facts and conviction to give Akuapem Poloo some hope of not going to prison.

Anyway, Akuapem Poloo is currently a free person but under the surveillance of the court until the appeal case is finally determined.
