Have you ever wondered the meanings behind the strange names of the children of the former President?
Well, the elder daughter has offered to give us an insight into what informed his decisions in giving them those strange names.
Whilst Eulogizing her father, Flt Lt, Jerry John Rawlings, she noted that her late dad appreciated whatever transpired during the dark days of the nation necessitating him to christen all his children with names that depicted his charismatic and Revolutionary Beliefs.
She explained how his drive for change and revolution reflected in all regards of his life, including the naming of his children.
Each of the four children she said, was named after a warrior, with the exception of the first whose name signified his quest to free the then ‘darkened’ country, from its gloom.
Zanetor, a Ewe extraction name, a command meaning ‘darkness must cease’.
“A name you made and gave to your first child during the difficult times in Ghana as you hoped for an end to the“ corruption and economic hardship,” she explained.
Dr.Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings is the current Member of Parliament for Korle Klottey.
