M.anifest, a rapper, says he used to resent people asking him what his parents thought of his decision to become one.
The rapper claims he can now answer those questions because he realizes how unlikely it is to be a successful musician.
“I got sick of people asking me ‘what did your parents think when you decided to be a rapper?’ In retrospect, I see. It would have seemed impossible to a naive African teenager.”
He urged his Facebook fans to follow their passions and to be knowledgeable about the careers they want to pursue.

“Love what you do…sure. But make sure you master it. There is no trick. Sweat, toil, and fortitude. Focus on what you can control. Find hacks… and hope Lady Luck finds you. Godspeed.”

M.anifest moved to the US in 2001 to study economics at Macalester College in Minneapolis-St. Paul, graduated
in 2005. The Strand on BBC Radio named him one of four rappers to watch in 2012.
