The President of National Association of Graduate Teaches, Mr. Angel Carbonu, has expressed his unhappiness at Ghana Education Service directing Achimota School to admit dreadlock students.

According to him in a press conference, the directive by GES is a threat to conformity and discipline in schools.

He said;

We are calling on the Ghana Education Service to redirect the Headmistress and the staff of Achimota Senior High School (SHS) to ensure that the rules and regulations of Achimota SHS and indeed any other Senior High School is abided by by every student.

He added that the school is a learning environment and not place for fashion or religious statements.

Mr Carbonu stated;

The school is not a fashion environment. The school is not an environment to exhibit one’s beliefs. The school is an environment for training, and conformity is part of training and we expect every student to abide by the rules of the school

According to him, whoever disagree with the status quo can challenge in the court of law.

This comes after a student with dreadlocks was denied by the Achimota School because of his hair style.

Ghana Education Service later came issuing a directive to the Achimota School to admit the student.
