Akufo-Addo speaks on phone to IGP and Prisons boss over their ‘leave’ order

The President of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has asked the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) James Oppong-Boanuh to proceed on terminal leave from August 1.

This is pending the end of his contract with the government on October 7, 2021.

In his absence, DSP George Akuffo Dampare has been announced by the President as the Acting Inspector General Of Police (IGP) with effect from August 1.

Also, the Director-General for the Ghana Prisons Service Patrick Darko Missah has also been asked to proceed on terminal leave pending his retirement on October 16, 2021.

The Deputy Director-General of Police Isaac Kofi Egyir has been asked to take over as the Acting Director-General of the Prisons Service with effect from August 1 2021.

The President of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has conveyed his gratitude in person to the IGP James Oppong Boanuh and Director-General for the Ghana Prisons Service Patrick Darko Missah and has wished them the very best in their future endeavours.
